The research into English Calendar Customs developed into a new series of work. From 1973 until 1980 Dave Pearson continued to explore the technique of using torn card to build up deep relief surfaces which he would then overpaint. He first discovered this with his Van Gogh work but in his large Calendar Custom pieces the process grew both in detail and in the intensity of finish.
During this time he also created a series of etchings on this subject, crammed full of detail taken from his earlier researches.
