AUTUMN 2011 NEWS: FILM DAVE PEARSON:TO BYZANTIUM THE DAVE PEARSON TRUST is pleased to announce the launch of a film about Dave Pearson by Derek Smith. Derek has made several broadcast (Sky Arts, BBC) films about artists, including Lucien Freud. His most recent feature length film has been on Edward Lear in Albania. TO BYZANTIUM is a 46 minute film about the life and work of Dave Pearson, focusing on the struggle to rescue his life's work in the years following his death in 2008. TO BYZANTIUM contains much original footage of Dave Pearson's work, some of it going back to the 1960s. There are also interviews with many of the painters colleagues and friends, and an insightful overview from the noted critic and writer Edward Lucie-Smith. HOUSE OF THE NOBLEMAN EXHIBITION Several works on paper by Dave Pearson will be on exhibition at 'The Return' at the House of The Nobleman at Boswall House in Regents Park, London from 14th - 23rd October in a exhibition alongside the Frieze Art Fair. This is one of the largest privately sponsored additons to the Fair, and also includes work by Francis Bacon. Yves Klein, Claude Monet and Damien Hirst.
ROSSENDALE SCHOOLS DAVE PEARSON PROJECT Two Rossendale Primary Schools (St. James Haslingden and St. Nicholas Newchurch) have chosen a work by Dave Pearson - BLUE AND RED HORSES - as the starting point of a project inspired by the National Gallery's 'Take One Painting' scheme. Each class has a poster of the painting and the students use this to develop a project. This is not limited to an art project, but can go off in any direction the students think fit. |
