EARLY WORK / ASTRONAUTS SERIES 1953 - 1966 |
||
Dave Pearson, typically, kept a number of drawings and paintings from his school days, as well as college work. Many of these were paintings and drawings of the London townscape. His first readily identifiable series are the pieces of work inspired by the training of astronauts in the US and USSR for space exploration and moon landing. These include works on paper, assemblages, photomontage as well as oil paintings. Images of Van Gogh, in particular from the self-portrait in 'The Road to Tarascon', begin to appear in some of the work from the early 1960s. |
